I created this piece as a reflection of how I see the world sometimes. We get so caught up with how society wants us to be, that we slowly begin to change who we are to fit that mold. It especially doesn’t help when every time I turn my head, it’s news about Keeping Up with the Kardashians, or which product works better: tea detox or waist trainers. Instead of evolving ourselves as smart, beautiful and level-headed individuals; we glamorize the idea of being “perfect”, that we end up looking like complete assholes, (hence, the donkey). The Twitter, the Instagram, the ratchet networks all are great ways to keep up with what’s on trend but that eventually fades out at the end. (oooh that rhymes lol) but seriously!… We have to find a balance! Yes, of course, you’re free to milly rock on any block, and you can convince yourself that DJ Khaled is the next Oprah of inspirational quotes but if we choose to neglect to educate and grow ourselves DAILY, we will be stuck in the habit of searching for outside validation.
My take-away: Know what’s important and find that balance
