Take a Break from Art, Why Don’t Cha!

In order to get better at something one must remain consistent with sharpening their skills on a daily basis. As much as I agree and try to live by that rule, I do catch myself taking a break from time to time. As of late, I haven’t even picked up a paint brush to work on some new pieces. However, don’t be alarmed! Just because I haven’t created new pieces, doesn’t mean I wasn’t working. Every day I’ve been inspired by something new and purposeful. Whether it’s a book, the music I listen to, the places I visit, I make sure to always keep my mind alert at best.I’m all for taking a break from creating art because just like how we need sleep to rejuvenate our mind, body, and soul; we need a break from art to unclog, regroup, and refocus. These ideas can’t magically happen while we’re stressed now, can it!?

My advice to you is, if you’re stuck on a project or having creator’s block or you’re just not in the mood, it’s okay to take a break (just make sure you come back, lol).  Taking a break helps you to experience new things with a new pair of eyes. It’s important to use that time wisely by gaining a new perspective! Take a long walk, visit a new museum, try a new restaurant, feed the birds, whatever it may be, just make sure to get some “me” time.  As a result, when you feel good you’re going to want to deliver and share those ideas you’ve got brewing in that mind of yours. Take a break and prosper!

"If you're burnt out and struggling, you don't need more productivity. NOPE. You need a break."
